Great Pyrenees and Bernese Mountain Dogs
Goat Milk Stuff is a working dairy goat farm in Scottsburg, Indiana. Our farm is half an hour north of Louisville, Kentucky, and only one mile off Interstate Hwy 65. We raise both Alpine and Nigerian Dwarf dairy goats.
We have two AKC recognized breeds of dogs here on the farm - Great Pyrenees and Bernese Mountain Dogs. We love both of these breeds and they each have their strengths.
Great Pyrenees are Livestock Guardian Dogs (LGDs) and live with the goats. They are protectors, but because they are bred to protect over a large area, they like to roam. Most of them have figured out a way to climb over almost all our fencing. We admit that wandering is a bit of a problem with our Pyrs.
Bernese Mountain Dogs are more of a general, working farm dog. They don't live with the goats, but protect them from perimeter fencing here on our farm. They are lovable and loyal animals. The main fault of Berners is that they don't have very long life spans.
Our dogs are not only working dogs. They are an essential and much-loved part of our lives. Both breeds are wonderful with people. They are loving and gentle and incredible with children. Even if they didn't guard the goats, we would still have the dogs for the companionship they provide.
In addition to our adult dogs, we raise Bernese Mountain Dog puppies. The puppies are beautiful and become great family companions.
We also raise "Great Bernese" puppies. They are a cross between the Great Pyrenees and the Bernese Mountain Dog. The goal of the cross is to produce the best of both of these "Gentle Giants". The intent is for "Great Bernese" dogs to not wander as much as Great Pyrs and to have a longer lifespan than Berners.
If you have any questions, feel free to Contact Us. Our family works hard to make sure that all our puppies are well socialized and raised with care. We would love to help you discover if one of our puppies will be a wonderful fit for your home.
Our three Great Pyrenees livestock guardian dogs, Thor, Cagney, and Lacey, spend their days with the goats, patrolling and guarding our goats from the biggest threat to domesticated goats, which is other dogs.
Our two Bernese Mountain Dogs, Castle and Beckett, patrol the outer fences and go for walks around the perimeter of the farm with us, claiming the territory as theirs to help ward away stray dogs and other predators.

We're the Jonas Family.
We've been raising goats on our family farm for almost 15 years, and discovered early on that our passion was to bring joy to people's lives by sharing our goats with them.
The dogs quickly followed as a way to protect our herd. While they are working dogs and have a job to do, we love them just for themselves.
We work hard to take care of our animals in the best way possible. If you have any questions at all, about how we care for our dogs or how we raise them or if you're wondering if they would be right for you, please reach out to us and we would be glad to help!
Thank you for your interest in our dogs, and we hope to talk to you soon!
